Drums & Lead Vocals: Nick Van Vlaenderen

Nick studied jazz drums at Jazz Studio in Antwerp and has played with numerous bands across Europe. His experience spans soul, jazz, rock, and heavier projects, from South Coast Soul Revue and Tina Queen of Rhythm to stoner rock band Thieves By The Code, and several years with blues guitarist Will Johns. Based in Hove, he teaches drums and records drum tracks, while continuing to perform live, including the odd jazz show. Nick has always loved singing – fronting bands as a teenager and recently returning to it with renewed passion.
Guitar & Backing Vocals: Tom Saunders

Tom is a guitarist and teacher based in Brighton since 2008. With over 20 years experience in guitar playing, his style spans blues, rock, ambient, and experimental sounds. Alongside his creative work, he’s spent more than a decade behind the scenes in theatre as a technician. As a teacher, he’s passionate about helping students find their voice through music, build confidence, and develop a lifelong connection to their instrument. Whether performing, recording, or teaching, Tom brings energy, curiosity, and a deep love for the craft of guitar. Whilst not on stage, in the studio, or in a lesson, Tom is sharing the joy of music and chasing the perfect sound (and a decent coffee).
Keys & Backing Vocals: Mark Treffel

Mark comes from a family of musicians and has built a lifelong career as a performer, songwriter, producer, and educator. He joined his first band at 16, recorded professionally by 17, and reached the semi-finals of the EMI Making Music competition at 18. After studying Jazz at Chichester College, he toured internationally as a session keyboardist with artists including Blue States, Geoffrey Williams, Astrid Williamson, and Mangataot, performing at venues such as the Royal Albert Hall and Hammersmith Apollo. Alongside touring, he established a Brighton-based studio, recorded and produced widely, and was lucky enough to share stages with Amy Winehouse, Seu Jorge, and Petula Clark. More recently, he has released albums on Mr Bongo and headed up the music department at the UK’s first Montessori Secondary School.
Bass & Backing Vocals: Phil Ward

Phil began playing bass right in the thick of the New Wave movement so he lives and breathes the genre. A Brighton resident since 2010, Phil is best known around the local music scene for playing bass with The Galleons, Mouth, and in Paul Diello’s Epicene, One Hit Wonders and Movie Soundtrack bands. Beyond playing bass, Phil designs speakers for a living, has a Dolby Atmos equipped home studio, and is a regular contributor to Sound On Sound – the world’s best music recording magazine. His favourite New Wave song might be XTC’s Senses Working Overtime, or maybe Talk Talk’s Living In Another World, or perhaps Prefab Sprout’s Bonny. He can’t make up his mind.
